There
is no doubt that Gas to Liquid(GTL) is the wave of the future in
gas applications emphasized Duwaik -Chairman of Reema International
Corporation- Colorado......(June 5th,2000)
Point Lisas, Trinidad, June 5,2000.
Reema International Corp. announced the start of engineering work
by signing an Agreement with Parsons Energy &Chemicals Group,
Inc., OMAR Duwaik, chairman of Reema, said:"The signing of
the agreement sets the stage for commencing the process of Engineering
design, Procurement and Construction ("EPC") of the proposed
Gas to Liquids ("GTL") Plant in Trinidad. The capital
cost of the plant, however, is US$275-300million."
During the construction, the Plant will employ approximately
1000 employees. Afterwards, about 130 people will be employed. After
completion, the plant is expected to convert approximately 100 million
cubic feet per day (100mmcf/d) of natural gas into about 10,000
barrels per day (bb1/d) of sulfur -free andaromatics -free diesel,
jet fuels, naphtha and other high quality specialty products. Additionally,
the Plant will be producing about 420,000 gallons/day of clean industrial
-quality water.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency
of the U.S. Government, one of the major causes of pollution in
most cities around the world is the content of sulfur, aromatics
and other contaminants found in the products generated from crude
oil.
"There is no doubt that GTL is the wave of
the future in gas applications," emphasized Duwaik. Rueters
had reported from London on June 28, 1998," Recent advances
in converting natural gas into clean environmentally friendly oil
products could trigger revolutionary changes in the world energy
industry."
Arthur D. Little, global consulting firm, was more emphatic, "GTL
will revolutionize the gas industry
The way the first LNG Plant did 40 years ago.
"Based on our estimates," continued Duwaik,
" the economic impact of the proposed Plant on the economy
of the Republic in terms of direct gas purchases, taxes, profit
sharing and local expenditures is about US$4.0 billion over the
20- year life of the project.

Recently described as an economic tiger in a sea
of pussycats by the New York Times, Trinidad and Tobago tops the
Caribbean investment tables. Indeed, after Canada, Trinidad and
Tobago has the highest per capita level of foreign direct investment
in the Western Hemisphere. Its strategic location, enormous reserves
of oil and natural gas, modern infrastructure, skilled and industrialised
labour force, and the quality of life in our beautiful twin-island
republic, are just a few reasons why.
